Symantec (News - Alert) Corp., a company that provides security, backup and availability solutions, recently announced two new programs which, according to the officials of the company, will help businesses accelerate their mobility initiatives.
The two new programs include the App Center Ready Program and the Mobility Solution Specialization Program for channel partners.
The Symantec App Center Ready program allows mobile application developers to embed Symantec's pioneering application protection technology into their app and gain enterprise acceptance as well as global visibility. Once embedded with Symantec technology, a mobile application is certified to be Symantec "App Center Ready" and will be promoted via the Symantec App Center Catalogue, a curated collection of mobile applications powered by Symantec technology.
By using Symantec App Center Ready library, a customer can add enterprise-grade security and management features to his app, without making any source code changes. Features include app distribution, authentication with LDAP/SAML systems, encryption of data with FIPS 140-2 algorithms, copy-paste restrictions, document forwarding restrictions, jailbreak detection, selective remote wipe, and complete remote management of the app.
On the other hand, Symantec’s Mobility Solution Specialization Program for channel partners allows the partners to offer Symantec’s enterprise mobility products to their customers. Partners can offer the complete Symantec Mobile Management Suite and access opportunity registration, expert resources, enablement programs and accreditations in a multi-tier model.
“Organizations are looking for applications, partners and products they can depend on to confidently achieve their business objectives,” said Anil Chakravarthy, senior vice president, Enterprise Security Group, Symantec. “By consolidating our portfolio into one suite that is priced per user, not by device, we help IT organizations increase employee mobility and productivity without compromising protection with a straightforward, predictable deployment model. We are pleased to move to a licensing model that takes into account the reality companies are facing of two or more devices per employee.”
