BlackBerry Debuts Cloud-Based EMM Solution

The current situation over at BlackBerry (News - Alert) may be one of uncertainty following unfortunate Q2 results, but that isn’t stopping the company from forging ahead into new markets. In fact, it has introduced a new multi-platform, cloud-based enterprise mobility management (EMM) solution intended to help businesses secure and manage corporate and personal devices. Considering BlackBerry was arguably hurt the most by the shift toward BYOD initiatives — since, in many cases, this meant a shift away from BlackBerry devices — the move toward EMM seems somewhat appropriate.
The solution provides the ease, flexibility and cost controls needed to support BYOD, allowing organizations to maintain security requirements, while enabling employees to use their preferred devices.
Around 90 percent of companies are expected to encourage BYOD by 2014, according to Gartner (News - Alert), putting most of the business world at greater risk of malware and other security threats. BlackBerry’s EMM cloud solution addresses the growing need for security in an increasingly BYOD world with full mobile device management, mobile application management, security standards and self-service capabilities for end users.

In particular, this new EMM solution features fast and simple deployment thanks to its cloud deployment; easy management for administrators; complete security at the app level for all Android, iOS and BlackBerry devices; and ease-of-use for the end user via a simple self-service console.
